Indicator: B3.2.6.1.4 - Use dictionaries, glossaries and internet to clarify word meanings
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain what a dictionary and a glossary are and state how each is used to find word meanings.
- Locate words in a dictionary using alphabetical order and guide words.
- Find the meanings of unfamiliar key words from a comprehension passage using a dictionary.
- Create a simple glossary of new words learnt, with the word, its meaning and a short example sentence.
- Use a dictionary or glossary to check and confirm the meaning of a word during reading, and state why this skill is important.
