Indicator: B2.2.6.1.4 - Use dictionaries and glossaries to clarify meaning of words

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Locate words in a picture dictionary or glossary by using the first letter and alphabetical order.
  2. Use guide words at the top of a dictionary page to decide if a target word belongs on that page.
  3. Read aloud the meaning of a word found in a picture dictionary or glossary.
  4. Work with a partner to find the meanings of at least three unfamiliar words and use each in a short sentence.
  5. Explain how a dictionary or glossary helped them understand a word they met in a reading passage.
