Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.3.5.1.6 - Use the past continuous form of verbs to talk about actions/events that were going on when a second action/event took place.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify the past continuous form of verbs (was/were + verb-ing) in given sentences.
Explain that the past continuous form describes an action that was going on when a second action interrupted it.
Distinguish between the past continuous action (the longer action) and the simple past action (the shorter, interrupting action) in a sentence.
Construct original sentences using the past continuous form with the simple past to show two actions happening at the same time in the past.
Write a short paragraph using at least three past continuous sentences to describe events that were happening when something else occurred.
