Learning Objectives

Indicator: B3.5.2.1.1 - Use full stops in initials and abbreviations

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the full stop as a punctuation mark used at the end of a sentence and in initials and abbreviations.
  2. Write their own names using initials, placing full stops correctly (e.g., M. A. Mensah).
  3. Recognise common abbreviations and write them with full stops (e.g., Dr., Mr., Mrs., Prof.).
  4. Expand common abbreviations and initials into their full forms (e.g., Mr. = Mister, K. A. B. = Kofi Amoah Boateng).
  5. Write a short passage of about four sentences, correctly placing full stops at the end of each sentence.

- Pair learners place a full stop at the end of each sentence.

- Provide opportunities for learners to practise using full stops in initials of their names, and abbreviations.
