Learning Objectives
Indicator: K1.2.1.1.4 - Identify the names and words with similar beginning sounds.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Say their own names and the names of at least two family members clearly.
- Listen to a list of names and identify which ones begin with the same sound (e.g., Kosi, Kofi, Kafui).
- Group themselves according to the beginning sound of their names when asked by the teacher.
- Recognise the letter of the week and point to objects or names in the classroom that begin with that letter sound.
- Sing the song “All those born on Monday, stand up, and dance” and perform the accompanying actions with the class.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Sing a song "All those born on Monday, stand up, and dance.." and perform actions on it. Ask learners to mention their names and that of their family members. List them on the board. Pronounce them and have them listen to those beginning with similar sounds. Eg. Kosi, Kofi, Kafui, Kakra. Learners divide into groups according to letters beginning their names and count the number of pupils in each group. Introduce the letter of the week. Have learners do a "Letter hunt" game with the letter of the week
