Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.4.LI.1

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and name the basic skills in chaskele, including gripping, the ready position, pushing, striking, and fielding.
  2. Explain the purpose of each basic skill and when it is used during a chaskele game.
  3. Demonstrate the correct grip of the chaskele stick using both hands and describe the hand positions.
  4. Perform a push pass and a basic strike using the chaskele stick with acceptable accuracy.
  5. Discuss the basic rules for starting, restarting, scoring, fouls, and penalties in chaskele.

Structured Talk for Learning: Lead learners to discuss basic rules on starting and restarting of the game, scoring, ball and stick rules, fouls and penalties. Allow learners to ask questions and clarify any misunderstandings.
Experiential learning: Learners watch a short video of on the grips in chaskele and practice same.
Collaborative learning: Learners in pairs practice playing the game with their partners. In groups, learners play the game among themselves.
