Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.5.6.LI.2 - Examine the challenges faced by the Ghanaian youth and how the challenges can be addressed
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least six major challenges facing Ghanaian youth today (unemployment, underemployment, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, inadequate access to quality education, brain drain, and others relevant to their communities).
- Explain the root causes of at least three of these challenges, distinguishing between personal, societal, and structural causes.
- Categorise challenges as economic, social, educational, or health-related, and give a Ghanaian example for each category.
- Propose at least two practical solutions to each of three identified challenges, drawing on the Ghana National Youth Policy (2022-2032), government initiatives, NGOs, and personal agency.
- Evaluate which solutions are most feasible for youth themselves to implement versus those requiring government or institutional action.
