Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.2.1.LI.3 - Analyse and articulate Crypto and Non-Fungible Tokens (NTFs) forms of art.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Define cryptocurrency, crypto-art, and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) in their own words, distinguishing clearly between them.
  • Explain step by step how an existing physical artwork is converted into a digital asset and then registered as an NFT on a blockchain.
  • Analyse the advantages and disadvantages of NFT art for artists, buyers, and the environment, using specific examples.
  • Articulate an informed personal position in a class debate on whether NFT art is “real art” or a passing trend.
  • Evaluate the cultural and economic implications of NFT art for Ghanaian artists and the wider African art market.

- In convenient groups investigate and record essential procedures of digital conversion of existing objects (assets/valuables) for virtual platforms for class presentations.

- In small groups/individuals, experiment with the essential requirements and procedures of digital conversion of existing objects to create digital assets.
