Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.2.1.1.1 - Describe how one major Kingdom was formed and the reasons behind its expansion.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Locate the Asante Kingdom on a map of Ghana and name the area where it was formed.
  2. Narrate the story of how the Asante Kingdom was formed, including the role of Okomfo Anokye and the Golden Stool.
  3. State at least three reasons why the Asante Kingdom expanded beyond its original settlement.
  4. Identify the Asante Kingdom as one of the Forest Belt States and name at least two neighbouring kingdoms it absorbed or conquered.
  5. Use a simple diagram to show how the Asante Kingdom grew from a small state to a large empire.
