Learning Objectives

Indicator: B3.1.2.1.1 - Demonstrate ways to care for the environment.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Explain what the environment is and give at least three examples of things found in it.
Identify and describe at least four ways of caring for the environment, such as tree planting, proper waste disposal, clean-up exercises, and avoiding pollution.
Demonstrate proper waste disposal by sorting and placing rubbish in the correct bins during a class activity.
Participate actively in a clean-up exercise and report what was done and why it matters.
Draw and colour a picture showing one way of caring for the environment and present it to the class.

- Use questions and answers for learners to explain the environment.
- Using Think-Pair-Share, let learners talk about ways of caring for the environment through: tree planting, proper disposal of waste, legal mining, clean-up exercises, avoiding environmental pollution, etc.
- Let learners organise and do clean-up exercises in the school environment.
- Let learners draw and colour activities of caring for the environment.
- Guide learners in groups to do a project on: clearing a rubbish dump, planting trees, checking erosion, clearing choked gutters, etc.
- Let learners present their work in class for appreciation and discussion.
