Learning Objectives

Indicator: B2.1.2.1.1

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Sort things in the school environment into natural creations (made by God) and things made by humankind.
  2. Name at least three materials used to make objects created by humans, such as wood, metal, clay, or cloth.
  3. Explain in simple sentences at least three ways the environment helps living things survive, such as providing air, food, water, or shelter.
  4. Show appreciation for the environment by stating one reason why we must care for it.
  5. Work with classmates in groups to discuss and report the importance of the environment.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

- Take a nature walk of the school environment with learners to observe:
  - things of natural existence (objects God created): trees, stones, animals, etc.,
  - things created by humankind: buildings, cars, tables, chairs, etc.
- In groups, let learners examine things made by humankind and identify the materials used in making the things.
  - Guide learners to talk about the importance of the environment. (survival of God's creation depends on the environment): air, food, water, shelter, etc.
