Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.2.1.1.1 - Plant trees in their communities as a civic duty

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain at least three reasons why planting trees is a civic duty, using examples from their own community.
  2. Describe the steps involved in planting and caring for a tree seedling, from obtaining the seedling to daily maintenance.
  3. Work in groups to plant tree seedlings in the school compound and assign care responsibilities.
  4. Record observations of their planted trees, including watering schedules, height measurements, and leaf counts.

Learners discuss the importance of trees in their communities e.g. clean air, shade
Project
Learners undertake a tree planting project in the school to check erosion or provide shade
Project activities include:
a visit to the forestry commission for seedlings
Planting the seedlings and take care of them in the school
Write down the processes about their project e.g. daily watering, measuring the height of the trees weekly, number of leaves
