Indicator: 1.2.1.LI.1. Explain human activities that impact on the environment.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- List at least five human activities that negatively affect the environment in Ghana.
- Describe how each of these activities damages the environment, using specific examples.
- Explain the link between human activities and climate change, including changes in rainfall patterns, floods, windstorms, drought, and famine.
- Identify at least three human activities in their own community that harm the environment and discuss them with peers.
- Demonstrate respect for diverse views on environmental care during group discussions.

General Learning Approach: In the context of schools with large sizes, the RMEC team should utilise case studies, video watching (movie scenes), drama/role play that will offer opportunities for discussions afterwards. Where appropriate the following pedagogies may also be implemented: Experiential Learning: In groups, make a field trip to places where human activities have destroyed the environment/observe the environment for bad practices that negatively affect the environment and present your findings for group discussion. Collaborative Learning: In groups, discuss the negative impact of human activities on climate. Enquiry Route Learning: - Human activities that destroy the environment; Indiscriminate felling of trees, illegal mining, sand winning, and improper farming methods. etc. - Among the negative impact of human activities on climate are changes in rainfall patterns, floods, windstorms, drought, and famine. Teaching and Learning Resources: - Computers and other electronic resources for screening videos - Pictures - Poster colours, markers, flip charts etc Assessment (1.2.1.AS.1).
