Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.1.1.LI.2 - Discuss career prospects and the importance of studying geography
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain at least three reasons why studying geography is important in daily life, using Ghanaian examples.
- Identify and describe at least five career paths available to someone who studies geography.
- Match specific geography careers to the institutions in Ghana where such professionals work (e.g., Lands Commission, Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority, Ghana Meteorological Agency).
- Discuss, through think-pair-share, how geographical knowledge helps in decision-making about the environment and national development.
- Reflect on how the study of geography can be personally relevant to their own future ambitions and responsibilities as citizens.

Exploratory Learning: Using videos/field excursions to institutions of geography (e.g. Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority, Lands Commission etc), resource persons or other resources, discuss the career and/or importance of geography. Assessment (1.1.1.AS.2). The document marks these depth-of-knowledge levels for this indicator: Level 2 Skills of conceptual understanding.
