Indicator: 1.1.1.LI.1 - Use latitudes and longitudes to locate places on the earth’s surface
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define latitudes and longitudes in their own words and state at least two characteristics of each.
- Distinguish between latitudes and longitudes using a globe or atlas.
- Locate any given place on a map or globe when its latitude and longitude coordinates are provided.
- Read the approximate latitude and longitude coordinates of a named Ghanaian town or landmark.
- Explain why latitudes and longitudes matter for everyday activities such as navigation, trade and communication.
