Indicator: B8.4.2.1.1

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the key features of a personal narrative, including first-person point of view, descriptive details, and logical event sequences.
  2. Plan a personal narrative by brainstorming and recording ideas about a personal experience or past event using a simple graphic organiser.
  3. Draft a personal narrative of at least three paragraphs that includes descriptive details (adjectives, adverbs, and prepositional phrases), first-person pronouns, and connectors that show sequence.
  4. Revise and edit a draft for sense, meaning, and effect, checking for correct use of grammatical structures and targeted audience reaction.
  5. Publish a final version of the narrative using an appropriate medium, including ICT where available.

    - descriptive details (setting, experiences or series of events).
    - first person's point of view to convey feelings, experiences and thoughts.
    - appropriate grammatical structures.
      - adjectives and adjective phrases for producing vivid descriptions
      - adverbs and adverbials for describing how an action has been carried out
      - connectors for showing sequence of events
      - direct and indirect speech for variation and adding interest
        - nouns and noun phrases (e.g., participants, objects)
