By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Record key points, examples, names and new ideas from a spoken or written text while listening, reading or viewing.
  2. Identify and note source information (title, author, date) when taking notes from a text.
  3. Use headings, abbreviations, symbols, colour and simple drawings or mnemonics to organise and make notes memorable.
  4. Edit and proofread their own notes to check for sense, clarity and completeness.
  5. Use their notes to plan and structure a short written assignment or response.

  - triggers to make your notes more memorable - such as mnemonics, colour or drawings.
  - further reading and ideas to follow up later.

- Organise ideas and make connections.
- Plan and structure written assignments.
- Write notes while listening to the teacher, reading a text, viewing a video recording or revising.
- Edit/Proofread the writing for sense or meaning, and effect (emotional reaction).
