Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.1.2.1.4 - Examine the negative impact of computers and computer use on the environment.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify at least three environmental problems caused by the manufacturing of computers.
Explain how energy consumption during computer use affects the environment.
Describe what e-waste is and give at least two examples of hazardous materials found in computers.
Discuss how improper disposal of computers in Ghana (such as burning or dumping) harms the soil, water and air.
Work in groups to analyse a picture or short video clip of computer disposal and list the negative environmental effects shown.

The JHS document never prints the spaced form, but NaCCA's own primary Computing curriculum names the same sub-strand 'TECHNOLOGY IN THE COMMUNITY' (b4/b5/b6-computing.csv). sub_strand_name becomes the lesson topic a teacher sees, so the missing space is closed.
