Indicator: B9.2.2.1.1

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Analyse a given text in entirety by identifying its topic, purpose and intended audience.
  2. Distinguish the main idea from supporting ideas in a passage.
  3. Produce an objective summary of a text that is free from personal opinion and unnecessary detail.
  4. Answer summary questions accurately by citing evidence from the text.
  5. Evaluate the quality of a summary by checking for completeness, objectivity and conciseness.
