Indicator: 3.2.2.LI.1 - Discuss the role of political parties in a democratic state
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define a political party and distinguish it from other pressure groups or interest groups in a democratic state.
- Explain at least four core functions of political parties in a democracy, using examples from Ghana’s political history.
- Assess the contribution of political parties to the consolidation of Ghana’s democracy, citing specific examples from the Fourth Republic.
- Discuss the challenges facing political parties in Ghana and propose practical solutions to strengthen their democratic role.
- Demonstrate values of tolerance, fairness, and respect for divergent views during group discussions and whole-class deliberations on party politics.
