Indicator: 2.2.2.LI.1 - Mass media and democratic state development.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define the mass media and identify the main types of mass media operating in Ghana (print, broadcast, and digital/online).
  2. Explain at least four functions of the mass media in a democratic society, with reference to the values of courage, fairness, balance, integrity, and honesty.
  3. Assess how the mass media shapes public opinion, holds government accountable, and influences democratic consolidation in Ghana.
  4. Analyse at least two challenges facing the Ghanaian mass media in promoting democracy and suggest practical solutions.
  5. Demonstrate the values of fairness, balance, and integrity when discussing or evaluating media content on a given issue.
