Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.2.LI.6 - Apply the skills acquired from the previous lessons in a game situation.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Describe the fundamental netball rules (starting the game, number of players, positions, footwork, obstruction, contact, held ball, and duration of the game) in their own words.
  2. Apply footwork, chest pass, and shooting skills correctly during a modified netball game situation.
  3. Demonstrate at least one netball skill (footwork, chest pass, or shooting) with proper technique in a game context.
  4. Identify and explain three skills used during the game when asked to reflect on their performance.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed ability and mixed gender groups, showing respect for teammates of different skill levels and backgrounds.

Structured Talk for learning: Discuss and explain the fundamental rules in the game to learners (e.g., starting the game, number of players and their positions, footwork, obstruction, contact, offside, throw-ins, held ball, shooting, duration of the game etc.).
Game-based learning: In mixed ability and mixed gender groups, learners play a game with the focus on footwork, chest pass and shooting. Learners in their groups play a match with the focus being on the use of the right techniques.

Assessment (2.1.2.AS.6): Level 2: Describe any three skills used during the game. Level 3: Demonstrate one of the skills used during the lesson.
