Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.1.2.LI.4 - Apply basic skills in performing individual and team sports (e.g., netball - footwork and chest pass).
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the key steps involved in performing a chest pass in netball, including stance, grip, body position, execution and follow through.
- Demonstrate correct footwork in netball by landing on the first foot and pivoting without lifting the landing foot.
- Perform a chest pass accurately to a partner using the correct grip, body position and follow through.
- Apply footwork and chest pass skills together in a simple netball drill or game situation.
- Evaluate their own and peers’ performance of the chest pass and footwork using simple observation checklists.

Skill based learning: Learners warm up their bodies and focus on the arms, shoulders and legs. Learners acquire the fundamental process for a chest pass through the following steps; stance, grip of ball, body position, execution and follow through. In mixed-ability and mixed-gender groups, learners practice the techniques for footwork and chest pass. Assessment (2.1.2.AS.4): Level 2: Explain the key steps involved in performing a chest pass in netball. Level 3: Demonstrate how any one of the following skills is performed in netball: Chest pass, follow through, pivoting and stepping.
