Learning Objectives
Indicator: B2.5.10.1.1 - Use phonics knowledge to spell words with irregular phonic letter pattern
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify words with irregular phonic letter patterns from a list of familiar words.
- Spell at least 10 phonetically irregular words correctly from dictation.
- Complete sentences with missing irregular words using spelling and context clues.
- Use phonetically irregular words correctly in oral sentences and in their own written sentences.
- Explain why some words do not follow normal phonics rules (for example, why “the” is not spelled “thu”).
