Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.2.1.2.1 - Explain the importance of open space in playing team games.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define open space, self-space and general space in their own words.
- Explain at least three reasons why open space is important in team games such as football, handball and hockey.
- Demonstrate how to move into open space during a simple team game activity.
- Describe what happens to a game when players crowd into one area instead of using open space.
- Communicate ideas clearly with peers when discussing strategies for using open space effectively.

Learners explain the importance of open space in playing team games as; it allows room for the beauty of the game, learners are able to operate in a conducive atmosphere. Self-space and general space are very important when working in groups. Self-space is the amount of space one occupies when not travelling.
