B4 Physical Education · Term 2, Week 6
Space Awareness, Dynamics, Relations, Body Management and Strategies
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B4.2.2.2.2 - Explain the difference between throwing to a stationary partner and throwing to a moving partner.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Describe the basic throwing stance (holding the ball in the left hand, left foot slightly forward, body bent slightly over the ball, picking a target, and swinging the free hand backward to contact the lower middle part of the ball).
- Explain why throwing to a stationary partner requires less force than throwing to a moving partner.
- Identify at least two adjustments a thrower must make when the partner is moving (such as increasing the intensity of the throw and leading the target).
- Demonstrate throwing a ball to a stationary partner and then to a moving partner, explaining the difference in their approach.
- Use appropriate vocabulary (stationary, moving, target, intensity, lead) to describe throwing situations during group discussion.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Hold ball in the left hand. Place the left foot slightly forward in front of the body. Bend body slightly over the ball, pick a target, and swing the free right hand backward to contact the lower middle part of the ball (for right handed learners). When the partner is moving, the thrower would have to intensify the throw.
