Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.2.4.2.4 - Describe the appropriate body orientation to serve a ball, using the underhand movement pattern.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Describe the correct body orientation for an underhand serve, including foot placement and stance, using at least three key points.
  2. Demonstrate the underhand serve movement pattern by tossing the ball and swinging the hand forward to strike the ball upward and forward.
  3. Explain the purpose of moving the hind leg forward after striking the ball to recover balance.
  4. Identify common errors in underhand serving (e.g., wrong foot stance, stiff arm, looking down) and suggest corrections.
  5. Perform the underhand serve as an individual and within a small group, giving and receiving feedback from peers.
