Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.2.1.2.1 - Distinguish between self-space and open space.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define self-space and open space in their own words using simple examples from the playground or classroom.
  2. Demonstrate self-space by moving in place (bending, stretching, twisting) without touching anyone else.
  3. Identify open space by moving safely into areas that are free of people and objects when given a signal.
  4. Differentiate between self-space and open space by correctly labelling pictures or tick boxes on a worksheet.
  5. Explain why it is important to use open space during games and activities to avoid collisions and stay safe.
