By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define base of support as the area within the feet or body parts that touch the ground.
  2. Demonstrate a wide base of support and a narrow base of support using their own bodies.
  3. Explain why a wide base of support makes the body more stable in balance activities.
  4. Predict which stance will be more stable before testing, and justify their prediction.
  5. Apply a wide base of support to improve their performance in at least one practical balance challenge.

Guide learners to identify that wide base of support is stable than narrow base. During practical lesson as two learners to stand up, one with broad feet apart and other with feet together. Push the two with same force for learners observe. The one with wider base is more stable than others.
