Learning Objectives

Indicator: B2.2.5.2.6 - Identify opportunities to use underhand and overhand movement (throw) patterns.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate an underhand throw and an overhand throw, showing the correct arm and body position for each.
  2. Name at least two games played in Ghana, such as netball, basketball, or handball, where underhand and overhand throws are used.
  3. Identify when it is better to use an underhand throw versus an overhand throw in a given game situation.
  4. Explain in simple words why players choose a particular throw pattern during a game.
  5. Work cooperatively with a partner to practise and correct each other’s throwing technique.
