Indicator: B4.2.5.1.1 - Identify the role played by some traditional rulers in the national development including Dode Akaibi of Accra, Ndewura Jakpa of Gonja, Osei Tutu I of Asante, Gbewaa of Pusiga, Togbe Sri I., Sir Ofori Atta of Akim Abuakwa, Nana Kobina Nketsia I of Esikado etc.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Name at least five traditional rulers from the list and match each to the area or kingdom they ruled.
State the key contribution of each traditional ruler to the development of their people and Ghana as a whole.
Retell the life story of one selected traditional ruler in their own words, using at least three accurate facts.
Explain, with reasons, which traditional ruler inspires them most and why.
Use evidence from photographs, stories, or class discussion to support statements about a traditional ruler’s achievements.

1. Name some traditional chiefs and queen-mothers from the major ethnic groups and state the reasons why they are considered significant in Ghana's history. Dode Akaibi of Accra, Ndewura Jakpa of Gonja, Osei Tutu I of Asante, Gbewaa of Pusiga , Nana Kobina Nketsia I of Esikado etc.
2. Show photographs/ documentaries on the roles played by these traditional rulers in national development
3. Retell the live story of any of these from a documentary show
4. Identify the traditional rulers whose work inspires you most and give reasons for your choice
