Solid Geometry

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.2.2.LI.3 - Design artefact using the concept of curve of intersection.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least three everyday artefacts whose forms depend on the curve of intersection between two solids.
  2. Apply the curve of intersection technique to design a functional or decorative artefact from given specifications.
  3. Construct an accurate working drawing of an artefact showing the curve of intersection between its component solids.
  4. Justify design choices, explaining how the curve of intersection affects the strength, aesthetics, or function of the finished artefact.
  5. Produce a finished artefact (model or detailed drawing) to an acceptable standard of accuracy, assessed against given criteria.
