Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.2.2.LI.2 - Draw the curve of intersections of objects meeting at right angles.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define the curve of intersection and state the principle that governs how two solid objects meet at right angles.
Identify the types of curves produced when square and cylindrical pipes intersect at right angles, using models, pictures and charts.
Demonstrate, step by step, the drawing of the curve of intersection of a square pipe and a cylindrical pipe meeting at right angles, using drawing instruments.
Draw the curve of intersection of two cylindrical pipes of different diameters meeting at right angles, with accuracy in projection and line work.
Present and explain their drawings to the class, justifying the points used to construct the curve.
