Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.2.3.1.2 - Demonstrate techniques for making prototypes/projects to solve problems in the environment using smart and modern materials

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least three environmental problems in their school or community that can be solved with products made from smart and modern materials.
  2. Select suitable smart and modern materials for a prototype based on identified criteria such as cost, availability, durability and safety.
  3. Demonstrate the step-by-step process of making a prototype to solve a chosen environmental problem.
  4. Produce a working prototype or artefact using smart or modern materials.
  5. Present and appraise their finished prototypes against set criteria.
