Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.2.3.LI.1 - Discuss the concepts of anatomy and physiology in physical activity

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define anatomy and physiology with reference to physical activity in their own words.
  2. Distinguish between the two concepts by giving at least two examples of anatomical structures and two physiological functions involved in exercise.
  3. Explain how at least three body systems (skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, respiratory) work together during a chosen physical activity.
  4. Use a concept map or mind map to organise the key ideas of anatomy and physiology and their relevance to physical activity.
  5. Discuss in small groups how understanding anatomy and physiology can improve performance and safety in physical activity, using at least one Ghanaian sporting or everyday example.
