By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Read aloud a simple text containing greetings and leave-taking expressions with correct pronunciation and intonation.
Identify and underline the greeting and leave-taking expressions found in a short written text.
Answer comprehension questions in French or English to demonstrate understanding of who is greeting whom, the time of day, and how the people are feeling.
Match French greeting expressions to their appropriate responses from a written list.
React appropriately in writing (short answers or completing a cloze passage) to show they have understood the message of a simple text.
