Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.3.LI.2 - Describe recent trends in the local manufacturing industry (e.g., globalization, rise in energy costs, increase in environmental awareness) and their effect on the local community or the nation.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define at least three recent trends in the local manufacturing industry, namely globalization, rising energy costs, and increased environmental awareness, with accurate examples from Ghanaian industries.
  2. Explain how globalization has affected local manufacturing businesses in terms of competition, market access, and technology transfer.
  3. Analyse the impact of rising energy costs on the production decisions of local manufacturers and the prices consumers pay.
  4. Discuss how increased environmental awareness has changed the practices of local manufacturers and the benefits of these changes to the community.
  5. Assess the combined effects of these trends on the local community and the nation, presenting a balanced view of both positive and negative consequences.
