Learning Objectives

Indicator: B1.4.1.1.2 - Explain the role of the community in the upbringing of its members.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define community in their own words and name at least three places where people live together as a community in Ghana.
  2. Explain at least three roles the community plays in bringing up children, such as education, discipline and counselling.
  3. Identify specific community members (teachers, chiefs, elders, religious leaders, neighbours) and state how each one helps in raising children.
  4. Role-play or dramatise a situation where a community member helps a child learn, correct a mistake, or receive advice.
  5. Show appreciation for the community’s help by stating one way they can show respect to community members.
