Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.1.LI.2 - Peer-review and critique the technical reports presented by colleagues.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Apply a structured peer-review rubric to evaluate a colleague’s technical report on a robot-based solution to a societal problem.
  • Deliver constructive verbal feedback that identifies both strengths and areas for improvement in a presented technical report.
  • Distinguish between subjective opinion and criteria-based critique when reviewing technical work.
  • Document review recommendations and revise their own technical reports in response to peer and facilitator feedback.
  • Demonstrate respect for diverse viewpoints, tolerance, and open-mindedness during peer-review discussions.

Collaborative Learning: In small mixed-ability groups, learners develop and present technical reports from learning indicators to their classmates and receive constructive reviews and recommendations from classmates and facilitators. Learners properly document recommendations and update their reports accordingly for final submission to the facilitator for acceptance.

Assessment (3.1.1.AS.2). The document marks these depth-of-knowledge levels for this indicator: Level 4 Extended critical thinking and reasoning.

Teaching and Learning Resources:
- Training workshop: Facilitators are sent to industries to observe and be educated on how robots are helping in solving societal problems.
- Capacity-building workshops: Facilitators are trained on the application of robots in addressing societal problems.
- Access online training material and videos on how robots are used in the industrialisation process.
- Flowchart design tools
- Projector or LED Screen
- Computers with presentation and editing tools like PowerPoint
- Computers with the required installed software
