Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.5.5.LI.2 - Evaluate the relevance of the Scientific Revolution in shaping the modern world, considering its lasting impact
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Evaluate at least three lasting impacts of the Scientific Revolution on modern science, technology, and society, using specific historical examples.
- Assess the strengths and weaknesses of historical evidence used to support scientific claims, demonstrating critical thinking about how scientific ideas have been debated over time.
- Analyse contemporary ethical debates arising from scientific advancements (such as artificial intelligence) and trace their conceptual roots to the Scientific Revolution.
- Work collaboratively in pairs and small groups to discuss, present, and respectfully critique evidence-based arguments about the relevance of scientific thinking in modern Ghanaian and global contexts.
- Reflect on how traditional narratives of scientific discovery have sometimes excluded diverse perspectives, and identify contributions of marginalised groups in science.
This lesson builds directly on the previous week’s work (Indicator 2.5.5.LI.1) where learners examined the major events leading to the rise of the Scientific Revolution. This week, learners move from understanding what happened to evaluating why it still matters today.
