Indicator: B9.2.2.1.1 - Discuss the factors that influence the selection of resistant materials

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State at least five factors that influence the selection of resistant materials for a given product.
  2. Explain how the purpose and function of a product determines the choice of resistant material.
  3. Assess the availability of a material and the skills of the designer as factors in material selection.
  4. Select an appropriate resistant material for a simple product and justify the choice using at least three factors.
  5. Communicate their material selection decisions clearly, giving reasons in a logical order.
