Relation of Forms

Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.3.3.LI.2 - Compose appropriate tonal values and hues for forms of resemblance.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define tonal value, hue, and form of resemblance in their own words and distinguish between the three terms.
  2. Identify and describe the tonal values and hues present in simple objects in their immediate environment (e.g., a mango, a clay pot, a school bag).
  3. Compose a drawing of two related objects (e.g., a pair of gourds, a cup and saucer) using a consistent light source and a full range of tonal values (light to dark).
  4. Apply analogous or complementary hues from a limited palette to create a form of resemblance in their composition.
  5. Present a verbal appreciation and constructive criticism of their own completed work and that of a peer, using accurate art vocabulary (tonal value, hue, highlight, core shadow, cast shadow, reflected light).
