Indicator: B8.4.1.1.1 - Describe the mission of the prophets

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define a prophet as an intermediary who delivers messages from God to humans, using at least two key characteristics.
Identify at least three prophets shared by Christianity and Islam, including Noah/Nuh, Abraham/Ibrahim, and Moses/Musah.
Describe the background and call of one of the prophets (Noah, Abraham, or Moses) by examining selected passages from the Bible and the Qur’an.
Explain the specific mission of Noah/Nuh, Abraham/Ibrahim, and Moses/Musah based on evidence from both scriptures.
Compare information about a prophet from both the Bible and the Qur’an to draw a conclusion about that prophet’s mission.

1. Explain the meaning of a prophet.
• A prophet is a person who serves as an intermediary between God and humans by delivering messages from God or teachings from God to humans. A prophet is a mouthpiece of God.
2. Note: Watch video clips and/or pictures of prophets in both Christianity and Islam.
3. Identify some prophets in the video or the pictures.
E.g.
• Noah/Nuh
• Abraham/Ibrahim and
• Moses/Musah.
4. Read part of the Qur'an and the Bible on the selected prophets and discuss their background, call and mission.
A. Noah/Nuh
(Qur'an 7:59; 17:3 and 26:116) and the Bible (Genesis 6:11-22; 7, 8, 9:1-19)
B. Abraham/Ibrahim
(Qur'an 4:125; 16:120-122 and the Bible (Genesis12:1-9; 15; 17; 18; 19 and 22)
