Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.3.LI.1 - Explain the concept of professional practice in Art

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define professional practice in Art and Design in their own words, identifying at least three key elements that distinguish a professional artist from a hobbyist.
  2. Explain the importance of professional practice in Art and Design, giving at least two reasons why artists need to conduct themselves professionally.
  3. Research and document examples of professional practice in Art using available digital or print resources, presenting findings to the class.
  4. Classify various professional practices in Art and Design into categories on a chart, showing how each practice contributes to an artist’s career.
  5. Reflect on how professional habits developed in school (such as punctuality, meeting deadlines, and collaboration) relate to professional practice in the art world.
