Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.1.3.LI.2 - Analyse the concept of ethics in Art and Design

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define ethics in Art and Design in their own words, distinguishing it from the broader concept of professional practice covered in Week 11.
Identify at least four ethical issues that artists and designers commonly face in their work (such as plagiarism, copyright infringement, misrepresentation, and fair compensation).
Explain the importance of ethics in building trust between artists, clients, and the public, using examples from Ghanaian art and design settings.
Analyse a real or hypothetical ethical dilemma in an art or design scenario and propose a justified ethical response, showing reasoning at Depth of Knowledge Levels 2 and 3.
Evaluate the consequences of unethical behaviour in Art and Design practice on individual careers and the wider creative industry in Ghana, demonstrating Level 4 strategic and extended thinking.
