Indicator: 3.2.1.LI.3 - Identify price discrimination in the market.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Define price discrimination in their own words and distinguish it from normal pricing practices.
  • Identify the three degrees (types) of price discrimination with real examples from Ghanaian markets and services.
  • Explain the conditions necessary for a firm to successfully practise price discrimination.
  • Classify given market scenarios as first, second, or third degree price discrimination with reasons.
  • Evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of price discrimination for firms, consumers, and society, and defend their position in a class discussion.
