Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.2.LI.1 - Explain the meaning and importance of game and wildlife.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define game and wildlife in their own words, distinguishing between the two concepts.
  2. Identify at least five examples of game animals and five examples of wildlife found in Ghana.
  3. Explain at least four importance of game and wildlife to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
  4. Discuss the threats facing game and wildlife in Ghana and why conservation matters.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to research and present findings on the importance of game reserves and wildlife.

Think-pair-share: In pairs, learners brainstorm to come up with the meaning of game and wildlife.
Collaborative learning: Learners in mixed-ability groups surf the internet for information on the importance of game reserve and wildlife. Learners present their report in a plenary session in class for assessment. Learners who are good at using the internet should support others. The teacher should also monitor learners as they use the internet.
