Indicator: 1.3.1.LI.1 - Explain the meaning and importance of farm animals.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define farm animals in their own words, distinguishing them from wild animals and pets.
- List at least six different types of farm animals kept in Ghana.
- Explain at least four importance of farm animals, including food, income, cultural and social uses.
- Discuss the socio-economic importance of farm animals to the Ghanaian national economy, using specific examples.
- Work collaboratively in pairs and groups to share knowledge about farm animals and present findings to the class.

Initiate Talk for Learning: Learners brainstorm in pairs to review the meaning of farm animals in Agriculture. Learners should be assisted with leading questions that will help them to come up with the meaning of farm animals. Others should be guided to explain the meaning of farm animals. Allow talented learners to give further explanation to the meaning of farm animals. Where necessary allow learners to surf the internet for the meaning of farm animals. The teacher should monitor learners during browsing and learners familiar with internet search should support others. Experiential Learning: All learners watch videos/pictures/charts on the importance of farm animals and discuss their observations in pairs. Learners work in pairs to state the importance of farm animals. Others work in pairs to explain the importance of farm animals. Challenge learners who can discuss the socio-economic importance of farm animals to the national economy to do so. Assessment (1.3.1.AS.1).
