By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Define “register” and explain the difference between formal and informal language.
Identify whether a given speech or passage uses formal or informal register.
Sort key vocabulary and phrases into formal and informal categories.
Convert an informal speech into formal register and vice versa, keeping the same message.
Deliver a short speech (one to two minutes) using the appropriate register for a given audience and context.
