Indicator: B6.1.10.3.5 - Identify and use the appropriate register for formal and informal contexts
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define “register” and explain the difference between formal and informal language.
- Identify whether a given speech or passage uses formal or informal register.
- Sort key vocabulary and phrases into formal and informal categories.
- Convert an informal speech into formal register and vice versa, keeping the same message.
- Deliver a short speech (one to two minutes) using the appropriate register for a given audience and context.
