Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.1.10.3.7 - Speak with confidence before different audiences using appropriate verbal and non-verbal cues to convey meaning

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain why speaking with confidence matters when addressing an audience, giving at least two reasons from discussion.
  2. Identify at least three verbal cues (pace, volume, tone) and three non-verbal cues (eye contact, posture, gestures) that help convey meaning during a speech.
  3. Demonstrate confident speaking by delivering a short speech or presentation before a small group, using appropriate eye contact, posture, gestures, and clear speech.
  4. Give constructive feedback to a peer on their verbal and non-verbal delivery using a simple checklist.
  5. Reflect on their own delivery and state one thing they did well and one area to improve in their speaking confidence.
